The name comes from the 5 Zones of Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kilimanjaro is made up of five major ecological climate zones, which are as follows; Cultivation Zone, Forest Zone, Heather-Moorland Zone, Alpine Desert Zone and Arctic Summit climate zones.

At Five Zones Kilimanjaro Retreat, there is a comfortable garden where you can sit and drink tea or just read.

It is a small comfortable house. Our staff offers an attentive high-quality service and is always ready to offer any help to guests. There is an amazing fusion of calm and tranquility at house with hectic outside.

our history

The story of Five Zones Kilimanjaro Retreat began in the 1970s, when the house was owned by Mr. Alphonce Mlay and served as a cherished family home. For many years, it was a place filled with family memories, warmth, and togetherness. In the 1990s, the property transitioned into a normal rental house, welcoming different residents while remaining an important part of the local community in Soweto, Moshi.

In January 2024, Mr. Alphonce Mlay handed the property over to his son, Gregory Mlay, who saw an opportunity to give the old family home a new purpose. Gregory immediately began renovating and transforming the property while preserving its welcoming character and family-home feeling. From this vision, Five Zones Kilimanjaro Retreat was born—a unique destination designed to offer guests comfort, peace, and a genuine home-away-from-home experience, becoming one of the distinctive places to stay in Soweto, Moshi.
